Our new Thursday weekly column is in Week 2....who are this week's three turkeys????
Nik Antropov (C) -- Toronto Maple Leafs
This one was easy....a -5 and no goals in the last 2 weeks. Not only that but he has virtually invisible when on the ice. When you're that big and you aren't seen...you have to be doing something wrong. Maybe the expectations are getting to him or like the rest of the Maple Leafs (aside from tonite), he is struggling and pressing mightily. Even Sundin has been hurting offensively. However, guys like Antropov need to step it up before they end up on the waiver wire.
Mark Recchi (RW) -- Pittsburgh Penguins
Well he hasn't played since the 17th....hmmm...you do the math...so that would be 0 pts...yes sir! The team has basically told him to make his own trade out of town. That speaks volumes right there. Pretty sad considering this happened once already. Why was he dumb enough to go back in the first place? I am wondering if Philly or another contender takes a flier on him. Maybe if he had produced a little more...he'd still be playing. 8 points in 19 games just isn't going to do it!
Dion Phaneuf (D) -- Calgary Flames
1 Assist in 2 weeks! Yep...that's it! Worse...a -6 and 13 Pims...well the last stat isn't so bad but the others are horrid. Funny that he has an assist already tonight...so maybe he is listening. This is the Flames top D-Man...and when you don't bring the goods...you better be ready to take the heat. Calgary is expecting much more out of you Dion and so are fantasy owners....time to step it up or be traded or worse...waived off fantasy teams.
So who wins the grand turkey award?
I am going with Mark Recchi...to not be able to produce on either one of those scoring lines at all..and then be told make your own way out....OUCH!
