It is strange indeed when things like this happen and they are hard to explain but early this morning Sean Avery was rushed to the hospital with what turned out to be a lacerated spleen. WFAN and the NY Daily News originally broke the story...it was also reported on WCBS (TV and radio).
What this proves folks is how hard sometimes it is to be a professional athlete. I may hate Avery's guts (I am a Devils fan after all) but at the same time I am a hockey fan and someone who has played the game for many years. Now I don't play it at an elite, professional level but anytime something like this happens...all you can really do is wish for a full and speedy recovery.
The Rangers may use this as a rallying cry but in all honesty all that matters is that Sean Avery is still alive. The quick thinking of the EMT's at the scene and the doctors at St. Vincent's hospital are the reasons why Avery is still here with us. These are the times where life is more important than hockey. Get well soon Mr. Avery.
