Oh mama....how my head hurts this morning! What was I thinking....picking Montreal? I should have know better. The law of averages had to catch up sometime...couldn't it have just waited. Well there is never a good time sometimes...so up it goes....a big old "L" in the column for my predictions.

Before the world panics....I am just 5-1 in the second round now....I can live with that I suppose.

Now onward to The Fab 4 from today's games......

4th cider -- Peter Budaj (G) -- Avs

How??? They lost 5-1....but if it wasn't for Budaj this would have been a massacre of epic proportions. All Budaj has done in mop up time is stop all but one shot and that was a shortie that he really did not have a prayer in Hades of nabbing. So in Colorado for Game 3....expect Budaj to start and Thedore to ride his Propecia on down to the bench. With that, his payday is starting to look lower and lower by the save percentage.

3rd cider -- RJ Umberger (F) -- Flyers

Really 3,2, and 1 could have gone in any order...but Umberger's 2 goals were instrumental in the Flyers 4-2 win...the bat down on Price was downright ingenious. It was the clincher in a game that had a little of everything. Give Umberger credit...he played hard all game long and was in the right place at the right time to turn the series around.

2nd cider -- Martin Biron (G) -- Flyers

Really Biron was just that damn good...stopping 34 of 36 shots fired at him...many close blank chances and some silly saves thrown in for good measure. He was at his best probably in the first period and that allowed the Flyers to take a 2-0 lead early again....which didn't hurt. There was a save on Kovalev midway into the first that didn't look that difficult but it set a tone...there was a conviction you could see in Biron's eyes....something the Flyers have lacked for years. I am not saying this is the year but you have to like the way Biron is playing if you are a Flyer fan.

1st cider -- Johan Franzen (F) -- Wings

Oh this deserved a wow and a half!!! Zetts and Datsyuk...they are damn good but make way for Franzen. Three goals....2 on the man advantage and a shortie that was something else made for an afternoon Wings fans would not forget as they trounced the Avalanche 5-1 in a game that could have been much much worse. Franzen had 6 shots and really could have had a 4th goal late but just missed on a wrister. What is scary is that many underrated this guy but his game just seems tailor made for the second season. It is clear the Wings have a scoring depth and grit they have missed for a few years now. What is more scary is they could be even better come the conference finals. Franzen will be an All-Star next season...mark my words.

Now on to today's games.....what to do...what to do. Screw it...fire away!!!!

Pittsburgh 4 NY Rangers 3

San Jose 3 Dallas 2 (OT)

Now I shall lay me down to sleep and have a cider in the hopes that hockey will be on when I wake....good night everyone!!
