Fantasy Hockey 101: LSHL In Depth

Then there was Monday....and time again for another episode of Fantasy Hockey 101. This week we take a pretty quick look at the latest happenings of the LSHL. Not only that but there are some surprises along the way.
So without further adieu...here are the standings.......

Once again, Patty's team is in first place.....Erin's is just two points behind...the surprise of the league has to be The Scrabblers who have not only jumped into third but with 230 points in the last month have made one of the biggest surges I have seen in a fantasy league like this. They could be a real threat going onward. One of my surprises...the Popes...has fallen back a bit but is still in the top 10...hanging in there at 9th.
Now to go back a bit I thought the Cash had a shot at placing in the top 5 in this league and for awhile with the injuries and everything else that went wrong that could, it did look dire. However, Money's team is up to 8th and with 210 points in the last month, the Cash look to have some staying power and may not just level off a bit like the top teams have.
Will teams like The Hitman and The Damned find a way to catch their form? Will the two girls continue to reign supreme? Will someone come up from way out of left field like the Scrabblers did and challenge for the title? One thing is for sure...this league is not panning out like I thought it might. I will say this...that is a good thing. Because no one wants a league that is predictable...and this one is developing into something highly competitive and changes quite a bit from week to week.
That being said....the LSHL has released its All-Star performers and here they are. Thanks to LS for the info he worked so hard on.
The East:
Zetterberg ~ Legion
Datsyuk ~ Scrabblers
Ovechkin ~ Boss Ladies
Lidstrom ~ Forest
Rafalski ~ Blondes
Brodeur ~ Scrabblers
The West:
Iginla ~ Sharks
Alfredsson ~ Pats
Spezza ~ Popes
Zubov ~ Whiskers
Chara ~ Rovers
Nabokov ~ Sharks
I have joked that the LSHL should come up with some kind of simulation for this...as it would be fun to see who would win this battle. Maybe do it on NHL '08 or something. It also does look like a better starting lineup than what the fans came up with. Somehow I am not surprised...even if this is strictly from fantasy stats.
So who is going to win this league....here are my top 3 as the LSHL approaches the All-Star Break.
1. Ottawa Lobsters
2. Toronto Hitmen
3. Scarborough Scrabblers
Now I have the feeling I will still have to eat my words at some point because of the highly competitive nature of this league....but sometimes one has to stick their neck out.
Well next week we are going to take a look at the Stevens League...and all I will ask is this....when are the real Lundqvist and Backstrom going to stand up already? Till then, I bid everyone adieu and good luck in your fantasy leagues.
