This is the Mel Brooks short, short, short version. Not for the faint of heart....here are this week's three turkeys........
Jarome Iginla (RW) -- Calgary Flames
I can hear it already from the Calgary fans but hey he doesn't have a goal in his last 7 games and last I checked, Jarome is not paid to play patty cake...he is paid to put the puck in the net. Not only that, he has only 3 assists and a -2 in that span. Normally he is solid in his own end and right now that is not happening. Surely he will pick it up but in the last two weeks....he has kinda come up snake eyes.
Michal Rozsival (D) -- New York Rangers
So on Brian Leetch night...we take a shot at one of New York's defenseman...how nice of the folks at The Program...but it is true. Rozsival only has 1 assist in his last 7 games and has taken some awful penalties in that time span. He has even been booed like Malik has...and remember how good Malik was last season. Too bad Renney and company forget that. The Rangers D and their confidence are very fickle....especially Rozsival's. They need a sustained shot in the arm....and Rozsival with his shot and ability to carry the puck hopefully can help because right now he isn't.
Evgeni Nabokov (G) -- San Jose Sharks
I can hear it now. Are you serious? The guy is a workhorse...he does everything he is asked of and then some...etc...etc...blah blah blah. Well you know what...right now the Sharks are suffering a bit for it. In his last six games...Nabokov is just 3-3 with a 3.36 GAA and a save percentage under .900. He has been overplayed and someone needs to step up in the organization and find a way to get him to rest. It is why I thought the Sharks might go harder for Cujo. I do not think Nabokov can play a ton of games like this and be effective in the playoffs. He will run out of gas...no question. So hopefully, someone spells him from within and soon. Otherwise, he may be on this list more often.
Next week we will be taking the week off as really there are only a couple days of games......so turkeys...you will be getting a vacation....for now!
