BallHype: hype it up!
Hello everyone, and welcome to another addition of "Ask A Panelist."  This week, Jason, the Tambalrooski, asked;
"Steve Stamkos was the obvious number one this year.. With the addition of his offensive potential, and the likely re-signing of Vinny Prospal, does the Tampa Bay offense get back to form this year, or will there be a need for more fire power to be added in the off-season?"
Looks like I need to bring in a Tampa enthusiast, and who better than our Arena Lightning GM Mishey!  Take it away!

I think that the Lightning offense will get back to form.  The MVP line is a line that is proven time and time again to be very effective.  The problem was that the Lightning didn't have anything beyond the MVP line.  So, if the line had an off night, the team was pretty much up the creek without a paddle.

At the deadline last year the Lightning picked up Jussi Jokinen and Jeff Halpern.  They were pt on a line with Michel Ouellet and the second line scoring exploded.  However, the Lightning now had a hole on their first line and they were back at a line and two-thirds.

So now Vinny Prospal is back (it was announced yesterday that he's agreed to a contract).  THat means that the MVP line, which is one of the best lines in hockey today in my not so humble opinion, will definitely be back together.  That's one line taken care of.  Then, the Lightning picked Stamkos.  Assuming that Stamkos can play with Jokinen and Ouellet at least as well as Halpern did, the Lightning now have two full scoring lines before free agency even starts up.

I do think that there is almost always room for improvement, so I would love if the Lightning nab some super great free agent for the second line so that they actually have some proper depth.  However, even if they don't, I won't be too concerned because I really feel that the Lightning are pretty well covered now.

Thanks for your insight Mish.  Come back next week as we make our way into the free agency period, and without question, a couple questions that absolutely MUST be answered!
