Good morning and welcome to another Your Slot Here. Proving that I indeed still have a hockey player's mentality...I am typing with a dislocated, blood blistered index finger. You have to be tough after all, even when its the "offseason". Here are a few things and blogs I have been reading this morning.

Mike Chen:
Why?: Simple...a fun read yet informative. His article on 16 million tacos is priceless yet very true. $8 million is a lot to spend on guys like Marian Hossa and Brian Campbell but yet some may even pay more which seems scary but true. Mike breaks down why Chicago would be wise to stay away from both and reasons why. Also, he explains how you can't backbuild salaries with this cap...as the cap hit is the average salary....so math majors need not apply here.
PensBlog:
Why?: I needed a good laugh and Pittsburgh perspective. I got both with this gem. They also try to rebuke the Tampa Bay North theory. Pittsburgh is nowhere near close to Tampa Bay North but I do wonder who will be left when the dust settles like everyone else. I guess we really will not know until July 1st or even a bit later. Add in arbitration and you got eggroll!
We Bleed Teal:
Why?: Well because it is a solid all around blog to read. Their quasi live-blog of the NHL Draft was great not because of the picks but because of everything else! I love honesty in a blog and with these guys you get nothing but it! The last hockey speech on this one deserves an award for just being the best damn speech out there....PERIOD! I can't wait to see what comes from these fine folks come the frenzy.
Well that is all for now....time to go ice that finger before it swells up anymore...remember the Frenzy is just a few days away.
