Hockey Top 5: Top 5 Drinks

Okay not everyone drinks while watching hockey but because quite a few people do...I figure, hey why not have a top 5 of what I drink before, during, or after hockey games. Am I going to get some royalties out of this? Somehow I highly doubt this...but some may be surprised and most won't. That is just how it is sometimes when you are thirsty for an alcoholic beverage. And now......
#5: Samuel Adams' Cherry Wheat
There is just something about the crispness of the drink that I have always liked and probably always will. It is also versatile as it adds a unique flavor to Brats for some reason...all I know is it tastes good. It may not have the world's highest alcohol content but hey most times I drink something to enjoy it...novel concept!
#4: Woodchuck Cider
Yes indeed the mother of all standby's. When you are in need of cider and something relatively inexpensive yet tastes really good. This is the cider for you. The new raspberry flavor is particularly nice...not something I expected. The Granny Smith is tart and meant to give you a small kick to the taste buds and it more than accomplishes that. I still love the amber for its richness yet simple quality. For $6.99 a six pack....it may be pricey...but damn it hits the spot.
#3: Guinness...BRILLIANT!
I just love the taste...not everyone does but I do. Why? Simple...I love a good beer that has some grit in it and Guinness definitely has a good bit of that going for it. I am no beer expert by any stretch of the imagination but a tall yard size glass of Guinness makes me feel a bit happier about my day with its robust yet tart taste. Amazingly it tastes really good with pretzels...I am really not sure why but it just does for whatever reason. A great drink that just works well with hockey night.
#2: Strongbow English Cider
YES!! The stuff is so good that I really did have one of my British friends send me a few cases...I kid you not. It has a taste that just hits you in the face making you crave more. With respect to drinks like Arrogant Bastard and IPA Stone Brews....Strongbow just has something to it that these drinks do not...what that is..I have no clue honestly. It is more expensive than most but Strongbow will give you a good, happy buzz in no time at all. Then again you won't realize you drank 5 or 6..you will really swear you only had 1 or 2. That is how good it is.
#1: Vermont Crazy Juice (legend or fact?)
This stuff was godlike. Big time alcohol kick with cider taste. One minor problem was that you were drunk like a skunk faster than you could ever realize it. The cider was apparently responsible for many accidents in upstate New York and Vermont and was taken off the shelves for good. But one memory remains, god damn that stuff tasted great....what a hell of a kick. I swear they fermented those apples for years. What I think I loved about it most...was the cheap price tag...$4,99 for a 6 pack...extremely cheap for cider. R.I.P. Vermont Crazy Juice.
Tomorrow we will delve into the three turkeys...only two more regular season editions...before the playoff turkeys get dusted off. I hear the hockey players are really lining up for this one. Enjoy the 4 games tonight everyone!
