1909 -- Hall of Fame defenseman Reginald "Red" Horner born in Lynden, Ontario. Horner played in the NHL 1928-29 through 1939-40 with Toronto. He led the NHL in penalty minutes for 8 straight seasons (1933-1940), a record that still stands.

1995 -- Claude Lemieux scored twice as the Devils won 4-1, in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, at Pittsburgh. New Jersey advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals vs Philadelphia.
