Another Look At Some Versus Coverage...
Good evening everyone. Versus gets the regular season started in North America tomorrow with an awesome doubleheader. We got some Wings-Leafs and Bruins-Avs. Now that is what I am talking about folks! Finally some hockey in the states and no stinking time differences where you are eating breakfast and rubbing your eyes as the puck drops.
Now let's take the puck track out of the equation for a second as my good friend Steve Lepore already talked about that extensively. What I do want to talk about is some of the aspects of the coverage in the studio. Here is a list of things you can expect for the upcoming season.
Among the regular segments on Hockey Central are the following:
- Keith Jones' Odd Man Rush, Keith’s unique look at the plays and players who have put themselves in the spotlight, whether for good or bad
- Brian Engblom's Reality Check, Brian's personal opinion on NHL issues
- Highlights from games not airing on VERSUS, as well as Plays of the Week
- Parting Shots; where Engblom and Jones debate topics in rapid-fire fashion
- Live-Look-Ins wherever possible, bringing viewers live action from games being played concurrently during VERSUS’ telecast
- Features on NHL players away from the ice
Versus is getting up there in total viewers...up to 73 million homes and climbing. I do think it will be near 80 by the end of the hockey season. Personally I am looking forward to satisfying my craving of 56 regular season games, the All-Star Game, and of course wall to wall Stanley Cup Playoffs action. I love it! Oh and for opening night, Def Leppard will be playing at NHL Face-Off Rocks 2008 along with Alanis Morrisette via satellite in Montreal. Some have grumbled including myself but it is better than New Edition for example so it could be worse.
So folks.....Let's Get Rocked! It is finally time to get the season started and Versus will be there from the beginning to the end. Are you ready? Really ready???? Yeah I know all the hockey fans out there are pumped for the season!!
