Rick was on assignment tonight so I will be taking over for this week. Well undisclosed injury you rear your ugly head once again. This time Sidney Crosby's ailment can not be revealed yet per the NHL's policy of disclosing injuries.

Apparently the little grimace was enough to keep him out of the game. What was it? No one knows and the Pens are being quiet about it. I admittedly hate this rule and always will. This is not the New England Patriots where the KGB stands guard at the door. That is not literal of course folks but it does feel that way at times.
Some will say it was his ribs though that was denied. That would make sense as to the way he was grimacing on the bench. I understand why the report was brushed off. You don't want your opponent to know where the injury is...we got it! My question is will Crosby play in St. Louis on Saturday night?
The answer to that one is anyone's guess but I am wondering when or if we will find out what ails Sid The Kid. The bigger question may be what is ailing the Pittsburgh Penguins as a whole. Jordan Staal thinks it is the system. Now Therrien and Crosby think it is player effort. Read between the lines and do not color me shocked here if Staal is traded around the trade deadline.
So there is now a rotating subplot to the Crosby injury and that is the injury to egos on the Penguins because right now, the Pens are headed on a divided road. No wonder why Evgeni Malkin is no happy camper at this time. Besides missing half the original 6 defensemen...the Penguins have some bigger problems that were anticipated by not only Rick and I but several hockey pundits. Can they correct them? Yes....but it will take a few months.
Hopefully Crosby is okay for the Pens' sakes...that is my take.
