This one makes Ducks fans smile. Teemu Selanne signed a two year deal with the Anaheim Ducks this afternoon and is playing in tonight’s preseason game against the Vancouver Canucks.

Signed, sealed, and delivered as promised on Friday when the Schneider deal went down…I had previously mentioned that this would be probably agreed on very quickly. Reports had that the deal itself was agreed to yesterday and that Selanne would play tonight. There may be a little trimming here and there but at the end of the day…the Ducks have a full season with their full crew pretty much intact and ready to go. So no hangovers this year!
Pretty much all along, the consensus was that Teemu Selanne was going to agree to sign with the Ducks. The rumors to Montreal were pretty much rubbish and dismissed by many as such. I have to say Anaheim has some definite scoring punch and a little depth which can’t hurt in the tightly contested Pacific. Selanne can still score 70-80 points and that is awfully nice to have on any team. Brian Burke and the Ducks did what they had to do.
Of course now the bigger question is going to be…and this will linger until it is settled. Will Brian Burke stay as General Manager beyond this year? Though signs are pointing towards yes, no one really knows until he puts pen to paper on a new deal himself.
