Smith makes the save….yet does not.
The rule does state that if the puck is stopped…the play is dead!!! Smith clearly stops the puck then the stick comes flying out. He was not trying to throw his stick at the puck. That would be the only way a goal could be called. It was obvious the two refs (I will be nice and not name them because so many sites have already) should definitely be disciplined by the NHL. Too many times refs have made costly mistakes this year already and nothing has been done. Time to do something. What do you think?
