What A Strange Day!!!

BallHype: hype it up!

To say it has been a strange day would be a gross understatement. First came the news that Paul Maurice was back as coach of the Carolina Hurricanes. This came real early in the morning...well for us west coasters anyway. Somehow I was not shocked by it but it still was strange to see Maurice back in. This move reeks of mismanagement from management. I am sorry folks but Rutherford and Karmanos, Jr. have completely lost sight of this team. Really, expect Laviolette to resurface pretty much at any time. He is too good of a coach not to.

The Ducks made a minor move in shipping off Joakim Lindstrom to Phoenix for Logan Stephenson. This could be really a precursor to a bigger move or more than likely it is because Lindstrom cannot crack an NHL roster. Maybe he can in Phoenix but do not hold your breath Coyotes fans. This is a minor league swap at best...and at worst just a move for move's sake.

Sad news from Denver....as apparently the injury with Joe Sakic was kind of what I feared it may be. Captain Joe will be out at least six weeks with a herniated disc in his back. Hopefully he can come back from this latest setback especially after the problems last season. Maybe it really is time to hang it up Joe....say it ain't so....say it ain't so. This has to have some influence on the player that shall not be named or at least be on the radar.

Stefan Leguin is back in hockey. In a not too surprising about-face....Legein will likely report to Syracuse by late January but will need to get in shape first....as he has been skating for a few weeks. It is good to see he is back in the game and it is what I expected to happen. However, you have to admit it has been strange to see all these things happen today. Hey, it gets better.

Daniel Briere is out another 4-5 weeks with a groin strain. He pretty much had this already....so it is again something we all knew but now you will not see Briere on the ice in a game until January. Hopefully Briere can heal a little quicker because the Flyers are losing an awful lot of man games to injury. This just makes me wonder what will happen next.

Than the finale of sorts....Sean Avery. As we all know now, Sean Avery is on his way to New York to meet with Gary Bettman at High Noon tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what is decided. One thing is for sure, I hope Avery is not meek about this. Dallas I have a feeling has washed their hands with him but this is more about pride and I do not think Avery will back down much...even from Gary Bettman. However, we will see.

Well as I get ready to eat some dinner and watch more hockey.....here is a little video to enjoy.

Mr. Maurice pours his heart out...welcome back.
