BallHype: hype it up!

We all know that it felt like the Islanders traded down 456 times in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft....well they did it twice in the first round to grab a guy some felt could have been available in the second round. But the Isles did what they thought was right and went with Josh Bailey as their #1. Toronto became a beneficiary with Luke Schenn still available and promptly scooped him up. Here are their profiles.

Luke Schenn

Wow the drama! Now here are Luke Schenn's numbers. Now yes I know he has a -5 in 37 games for the Leafs and only has 4 points but he is a stay at home defenseman with some offensive upside. Toronto, at times, could not play D if you held a gun to their head so keep that in mind. Schenn weighs closer to 220 now and could fill out to around 225 or 230. That is a scary thought if you play Toronto honestly.

Now the Islanders traded down twice to get Josh Bailey at the #9 pick in the first round and here are his numbers. The Isles did need scoring and Bailey has great hands but many felt that Windsor was kind of a stacked team. Bailey has 13 points in 34 games for the Isles with a -4 but only has 1 goal. Without getting into who the Isles could have had....the debate is simple.

If you had a choice...who would you rather have....Schenn or Bailey? I am looking forward to the responses...this should be interesting.
