Thank you Cyberpresse (Pat Burns)

It is sad when you hear bad news like this. What is worse is when its someone you really respect as a man…not just a hockey professional. But as everyone likely knows by now. Pat Burns is battling cancer for a third time and this may be his toughest battle yet. Here is the original article from LaPresse….please read it by using a translator as it is in French….much apologies.

A special thanks to Tom Gulitti from Fire And Ice who relayed the story. People know how courageous Burns has already been….overcoming cancer twice! After beating colon and liver cancer…this cancer is believed to be in his lungs. From what little I know of lung cancer, this is a very tough battle. We here at The Program wish Pat Burns a very speedy recovery and a hope that he keeps fighting!

Pat Burns won the Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 2003 and left after the first round of the playoffs the following season. He has been a special assistant to the Devils pretty much…ever since. My aunt died of lung cancer so I guess realistically I know the perils here. However it just seems that if there’s one person that can beat this….it is Pat Burns. After all, he is a hockey man..a manly man…that is supposed to count for something….right?

At any rate, as Montreal faces New Jersey tonight, I am sure there will be some heavy hearts. Burnsy coached in Montreal,Toronto, Boston, and New Jersey. Keep him in your prayers as he goes up against his toughest battle yet. We are pulling for you Pat!!!!!
