This week we take our aim to a very noble, charitable cause. We raise our cider up this week to Be The Game....a site that does great things for hockey and youth hockey in particular. First up here is their mission and vision:
MISSION
Be The Game™ is a national community driven organization whose mission is to be the leading provider of sports related apparel and products. In recognition of our commitment to giving back, a portion of all profits will be donated back into the communities to support youth sports and charities.
VISION
BTG recognizes that it takes a group of people committed to a cause, effort or program to initiate change. We invite and encourage individuals to give back and make a difference within their communities and beyond with the goal of raising $1 million in support of youth sports and charity. As a direct result of our supporter’s efforts, BTG will donate a portion of all profits to BTG’s community fund.

Simple premise everyone! The nicest thing is the money really does go where it matters and that is to youth programs. It is nice to see someone that cares passionately for not only all youth sports but youth hockey as well. To have professsional players on board already like Akim Aliu who knew first hand what it was like to need a little help on the equipment end is a major step forward for this worthwhile cause.
Admittedly I first stumbled on this almost by accident but any way in which we can help is great. So if anyone is interested, go check out the site and see if Be The Game can aid your cause as well. At some point in February, we are also going to try and get Andy or Joe (or both) on to discuss their cause further and their plans for going forward in 2009.
I highly recommend checking out their blog as well for the latest BTG news....and their facebook page as well. It seems everyday I see more and more being done. These guys know no boundaries and their goal is to give every kid any chance they can to play. That is really what it is all about...a chance folks! That is something most do not have.
So get on board....who knows....you may be able to really help those in need and say hey I was not only a part of the game....I helped the game out. Thanks so much.
