Somehow the hockey bagel made its way back on here....no one is really sure how but it did. Of course, that begins another week and well the Monday Ice Water Cooler. Keep in mind, we could not interview the bagel for its feelings on the matter but needless to say it was pretty sad by the whole affair. He could be quoted saying, "Now no one will eat me!".
Dawn will likely read this I am sure and curse me until some netherworld type place freezes over. While I am at it though, why do the Devils always play the Ducks around her birthday? This is a mystery that has baffled hockey fans for sometime. So far the Devils are 0-3 against her Ducks since we have been married. Needless to say I am hurting for a win here. Now the game does not take place until Sunday at 8pm ET / 5pm PT. It is not a coincidence that the podcast is also at that time. This will be a special episode unlike most. Rarely do the listeners get a glimpse at what I endure during a hockey game. Now you will hear it live as it happens.
Notice we are trying to get away from the shenanigans of Sidney Crosby. Also, my wife's birthday is Thursday so try to go easy on her as her Ducks face the Kings in a second half of a home and home. They call it the "Freeway Faceoff". I call it competitive hockey for a change. It will be nice to see as frankly Dawn and I agonize over our hockey teams in diametrically opposite ways to the same mean...go figure!
Tonight is a bit of a slow night of hockey with only two games but there is the bronze medal game between Slovakia And Russia and the gold medal game between Canada and Sweden. Sorry Versus...I apologize but I will not be watching Rangers=Penguins...I will be watching the World Junior Championships end tonight. If the gold medal game is anything like the semifinal classic between Russia and Canada.....this has the makings of being a very special night indeed. Of course, go check out my take and Nathan's on the blog. Interesting insight.
Next week is a bit of an anniversary of sorts....the blog turns two and though it has gone through name and url changes in the last few months....it is still the blog. There will be a few special things that we will be revealing...including memories and more on our Blog Edition of The Program on the 14th at 10:30pm ET. We will come up with a nice shiny title I promise. Hopefully we will have some surprises along the way.
So this week as always shapes up to be an interesting week in the world of hockey....with just 20 days to go until the All-Star Game in Montreal....the action on the ice is really heating up....only the coolest game on Earth can do that!
