BallHype: hype it up!

So today the Canadiens trotted out the old school jerseys against Boston….well it did not work as Boston defeated Montreal at the Bell Center 3-1. Want a better picture? Getty Images supplies us with another gem.

So the Habs have only defeated the Bruins once in 5 meetings this year. Honestly we expected it to be the other way around at the season preview. Who knew? Well Boston played even better than it did against the Rangers at TD Banknorth yesterday. Tim Thomas made 27 saves and was first star. Dennis Wideman scored a goal for Boston in the win.

To add insult to injury, the Habs lost Josh Gorges after a cheap shot from Denis Gauthier then lost Robert Lang to a late injury in the third period after he checked Stephane Yelle. He was favoring his left leg and is probably day to day right now. A hair more on the jersey folks…by the way.

The Canadiens wore “barber pole” retro jerseys and socks featuring the distinctive look of narrow red, white and blue horizontal bands used by the team in 1912-13.

The Habs are definitely struggling right now. It will be interesting to see how they battle because right now, the division and conference lead is out for Montreal. Boston looks to be on its way folks.
