Fantasy Hockey 101: The Final Week!

BallHype: hype it up!

Simply you are in the final week. Time to go out in a blaze of glory! This is our easy and relaxed last post of the season. We will have an end of the year post next week. What else can we say? It has been an eventful season to say the least. I have learned quite a lot doing this column every week during the regular season.

For one, I have learned to stick to my guns. Sure several of my projections did not pay off for me. Notably Marty Biron and Marty Turco are still looking for the Federal Witness Protection but more Turco and JS Giguere. We have seen the rise of several young goaltenders like Pekka Rinne, Steve Mason, and Jonas Hiller. Funny that I have all three on one of my fantasy teams this week that made the finals...go figure! I stuck with them when not many would. Hey sometimes we get them right....sometimes!

Then there is just the simple fact that I was able to write a column every week pointing out an aspect or three about fantasy owners in general and what to do and who to pick up, drop, or trade. That is the nicest thing of all! Just to be able to interact with other fantasy "experts" and to be able to hold my own...now that is cool!

I want to thank so many people for making this possible. Darryl Houston Smith is the best fantasy hockey guy out there...PERIOD! There is a reason why he is called Black Moses but the best thing is he is a class act! I do not know many people like Darryl who helps no matter what time of day or night. That gets a ton of respect in my book.

In the last week...I have the simplest advice in the world. Dance with what brought you there. Do not go changing things up now. The other thing is do look for teams who have long clinched playoff spots. There may be some players that wind up getting some rest. You will see lots of probable players that do not play this week. I kid you not....just go take a look at the injury reports out there.

Finally, best of luck to all those in their second week of finals or battling for a nice points or roto trophy and thank you for reading this column. This labor of love is really special to me...and I am appreciative to be able to relate my experiences to the masses. Good day all!

Sincerely,

Christopher R. Wassel
