Lokomotiv Blanks Ak Bars in Game 3 of KHL Gagarin Cup Finals

Lokomotiv Yaroslavl defeated Ak Bars Kazan 3-0 today to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven KHL Gagarin Cup finals.

Lokomotiv, playing on their home ice at UKSK Arena 2000, wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. With the “Railway Men” on the power play, Marcus Nilson hammered a shot that had rebounded off the back boards past Ak Bars goalie Fredrik Norrena in the 4th minute to take the early lead.

After almost 30 minutes of scoreless action, Czech Zbynek Irgl converted another power play for Lokomotiv in the 33rd minute to put the hosts up 2-0. Less than seven minutes later, Johan Okerman deflected a puck past Norrena for Yaroslavl’s third and final goal of the day.

Game 4 of the KHL Gagarin Cup finals will be played tomorrow, Monday, April 6th in Yaroslavl.
