Just a real simple quick top 5 to spark a debate today. Well there have been several calls and missed calls that have made us scratch our heads and wonder what planets these refs are on. Understandably refs are an easy target and to start said debate. We have 5 of the worst calls...though I am sure there are more.
5th: Columbus too many men call that ended series.
Sad reality but was indeed true. A call that is normally not made in the last two minutes of a game but it was. As a result Wings score on that Power Play and Wings end up winning the game 6-5 and the series 4-0. Talk about kicking a team in the nuts after the nuts are already scrambled.
Game 4 CBJ-DET highlights....
4th: Kunitz hits Varlamov straight in the head.
Maybe Chris Kunitz thought he could get away with it on Versus....I do not know. Nonetheless he clocked Varlamov in the head and Sidney Crosby did eventually score. Kunitz would eventually be fined but many called for a suspension. Here it is again.
Kunitz again...btw no penalty either.
3rd: Chad LaRose goal on Martin Brodeur in Game 4
Yes you knew this was coming but how the ref clearly does not see that the following is interference I will never know. But clearly Brodeur was bumped several times in this game...throw out the one at the end. Sadly some things get missed...turned out this 3rd Carolina goal had it not counted might have changed things...we'll never know.
About 1:45 in...for the LaRose goal...
2nd: Canes get the short end in Game 2 against B's?
The goal that well was not called one or was it? The refs ruled this one inconclusive and well it was tough to tell. We will let you judge one more time.
Was it or wasn't it?
1st: Jonas Hiller gets saved by a ref of all people.
Saving the best for last....Wings fans may talk about this one all offseason if they do not come back in this series. Oh wow...this was definitely a blown call but hey to err is to human......
In this case it was Watson not elementary.
Just think we are not even midway into Round 2 yet.....oh my!!!!!!
