As most of us await puck drop of tonight's Game 6 in Pittsburgh, hockey fans around the continent will be anxious to hear the results of today's court battle in Arizona between Gary Bettman and Jim Balsillie. They'll be going head-to-head in an Arizona bankruptcy court this afternoon. It appears that Redford T. Baum will not rule on who wins today but the hearing so far is contentious to say the least. We are following this actively via several sources from Twitter for both perspectives on this story. You can follow TheScore, OdinMercer, Fanster_Sports, The Yotes Diva, and many many more all on Twitter today for the latest. This seems a case destined for no clear ending as of this week. It may even drag on out just a bit longer which I am sure will cause an immense amount of joy for Gary Bettman as the Stanley and Calder Cups could be awarded tonight.
Needless to say it has been an extremely busy day in the NHL.
We will try and update this post as we can into the night.
The big thing that came out of today's hearing is the relocation fee. The NHL is going to have to come up with one so that there can be an auction. That seems to be the bottom line. There could be a June 22nd auction and oh boy could the fireworks fly if that is the case. Stay tuned and read this for more details.
