Fantasy Hockey 101: These Three Turkeys

Oh the turkeys even in snow....

BallHype: hype it up!

As the days grow colder...the turkeys are getting ready to bring you the coldest of fantasy hockey players. It is tough for them as they try to avoid getting slaughtered literally so they are doing this with much bravado and courage. Remember they had to pick three this week and it was a very tough process so NHL players be warned again...that there were more than three worthy. Consider yourself on notice. Now the turkeys....gobble gobble!

Mike Smith (G) -- Tampa Bay Lightning

This may be unfair but he laid such an egg against Philly that he deserves to be on this list. At 2-3-3 with a 3.64 GAA and .879 save percentage....it has been a rough year no question. I know he had three straight good starts in a row BUT throwing in clunkers like on the 2nd will not help him and the turkeys have called him out on it. Antero Niittymaki is pushing him maybe out of the way for the starter job. Tampa has potential here and cannot mess around....that goes for you Mr. Smith. You better get it together or your fantasy relevance may just go right down the toilet.

Olli Jokinen (F) -- Calgary Flames

Now his numbers are not that bad. However, 7 points in 13 games for a guy in his prime playing with Jarome Iginla is. Truly Jokinen is an enigma wrapped in a confused state of holy crap. The two goals do not cut it for me or really anyone and with Coach Sutter trying just about everything...time may be running out on Jokinen yet again. First Florida, Phoenix, and now maybe Calgary. Its a question of where he could end up next not if.

Bobby Ryan (F) -- Anaheim Ducks

So 8 points in 13 games but very few lately. Sadly we had such promise for Ryan but for some reason the shots are there (44) but the goals (4) are not. That is a 9.1% shooting percentage for those doing the math. Yes he has a +1 but mostly that is because Anaheim gives up a ridiculous amount of PP chances and goals obviously. Yes there is time to turn it around and Ryan has hit 3 posts this week. It has to....I mean right???

Next week there will be three more victims...and hopefully there will be no repeats because the turkeys hate those. Bye for now and watch out NHL players!!!! The turkey is more to be feared of than even the Injury Ninja.
