On The Drawing Board: The Referee Apocalypse
Over the next couple weeks, we are going to have some fun with the refs of the NHL. I really hope that no one takes this overly seriously as we do this "apocalypse" in parts. As NHL fans, every person has seen enough horrendous calls to want to throw their television out the window at least a 100 times over.
The plan as it stands over the new few weeks is to do this special piece in four parts and this is how it will go.
- Part 1: The Origins Of The Apocalypse
- Part 2: The Calm Before The Storm
- Part 3: The Day The NHL Refs system died
- Part 4: What Comes Next? (Conclusion)
Now keep in mind that this has been something that has been in the production phase for some time. Part 1 will focus on some of the worst officiating blunders of all time while Part 2 depicts a time where there will be much peace between refs and the world.
Part 3 will detail how the system came tumbling down while Part 4 not so casually asks what is next. This is more or less fact mixed with humor and speculation and we freely admit this but it may offer some food for thought for the National Hockey League. We all saw some of the weird parallels the "Hockey Apocalypse" created so I am sure some truth will come out as well.
