This Day In Hockey History (12/11)

Today we salute another great moment or at least very good moment in hockey history on This Day.  There is a part of me that kind of wonders how this good this player could have been if not for a multitude of injuries.  Sure, so many guys fall under this category but there was something about Eric Daze that screamed unlucky.  Anyway, here is today’s gem from nine years ago and what a nice stage to do it on, New York City.  The video comes first.

 

 

December 11, 2002

Eric Daze scored his 5th career hat trick, defenseman Nathan Dempsey had a career-high four assists and Jocelyn Thibault made 46 saves in the Blackhawks 4-3 win against the Rangers at New York.

Its a bit of a cold morning but we are going to warm you up a bit on This Day with a good memory err moment.  This is what we have for today.

 

 

 

 

 

December 11, 1985

Edmonton Oilers beat the Blackhawks 12-9, in Chicago, in the highest scoring game in modern NHL history. The teams set another record with 12 goals scored in the second period.

TGIF! With that, we have a moment that we think is pretty good anyway. This moment really piles on the points and have to admit if someone did this in today’s NHL, I would be mighty impressed. Okay video and moment time!



Dennis Maruk playing pond hockey….

December 11, 1981

Washington’s Dennis Maruk scored twice and added four assists, and rookie Chris Valentine had a goal and four assists in the Capitals’ 11-2 win against the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs. It was Maruk’s second six point game in a week!
