Better late than never, we give you This Day In Hockey History on Hump Day err night!  Now this comes from a man who truly earned the nickname “Terrible Ted”.  After all, the guy was truly an intimidating site on the ice for years.  Today’s moment happened 59 years ago on this day and as always we preceed it with a little video.  Enjoy.

 

 

December 21, 1952

Ted Lindsay became the first player in team history to score 200 goals with the Red Wings. The milestone came as Detroit extended their team-record undefeated streak to 12 straight games (7-0-5) with a 5-2 win over the Rangers, at New York.

Hopefully a little more later as illness permits, but this was an odd yet time changing moment for hockey.  Thanks to the Red Wings for this one.

 

 

December 21, 1938

Detroit Red Wings took the first charter flight in team history, when they flew from New York to Chicago for a game.

December 21, 1977

Syl Apps scored four goals, including his third (and final) career hat trick (and his first with Los Angeles) and added two assists as the Kings beat the Minnesota North Stars, 8-1 at the Forum.
