Fantasy Hockey POTN (5/28)

Written by Chris Wassel on .

Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals did not just start, it ERUPTED!  Last night was a great game to watch on so many levels and quite clean when you think about it.  It was also simply played the way it was meant to.  There were a bevy of great choices tonight to choose from and even on the losing team as well.

Dwayne Roloson really could have won this given that he made 37 saves and at least 5 or 6 of the amazing variety.  The goal he gave up was one he had no prayer of stopping.  In the end, the perfect pass and shot beat him and for Tampa fans there is nothing wrong with that at all.  Tampa made it further than anyone thought, except for a few of us who had Tampa in the Conference Finals.

Tim Thomas could have won as well.  After all, he won Game 7 with 24 saves and the shutout. He also made several amazing saves (not the save of the year).  However, not even that was enough on this night though he was the most strongly considered because he did win after all.  That is a novel concept.

So after careful consideration, we came up with our winner.  No it is not the refs for calling no penalties either.  They do not get awards.  Seriously, congratulations to out Game 7 Fantasy POTN, Mr. Nathan Horton.  Horton clearly heard a series clincher when he was set up by David Krejci and Andrew Ference.  The bottom line is a goal scorer has to pot that in the net and at 12:27 into the third, Horton did just so.

Besides the goal, Nathan Horton had six shots on goal and was a presence on both sides of the ice.  That has to be something that Florida fans are kicking themselves in the gut over and over on.  Either way, Boston is now in its first Stanley Cup Final since 1990 and this time it will be against Vancouver.

Now of course it is time to roll out the beautiful goal footage.....good night everyone.

Yes this is in HD too! Aloha.
