American Pari$e Pie!

It was said a parody needed to be done after this one but there was a strong desire to wait.

We know people have been up in arms a bit with the Parise and Suter signings and some have been obviously very happy. Here is a parody sung to Don MacLean’s classic “American Pie”.

American Pari$e Pie

A long long time ago
I can still remember how
That Parise used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those hometown folks dance
And maybe they’d be happy for a while
But July 1st made me shivered
With every contract offer delivered
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn’t take one more step
I can’t remember if I cried
When I read about Parise and his bride.
But something touched me deep inside
**The day the package arrived**
So

[Chorus]
Bye, bye this Parise guy.
Drove his money to the bank but the bank was closed.
Them Devils fans were feeling very hosed.
Singin’ this’ll be the day that we die
This’ll be the day that we die

Did you write the book of Yeo
And do you have faith in God, hello?
If the Koivu tells you so?
Now do you believe in the power play?
Can Parise save you from the bay?
And can you teach me how to score in the clutch?

Well, I know that you’re in love with him
Cause I saw you dancin’ in the sin bin
You both kicked off your skates
Man, I dig those Parise first dates.
I was a lonely teenage broncin’ buck
With a Wild jersey and a Bronco truck.
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the Parise died
I started singin’

[Chorus]

Bye, bye this Parise guy.
Drove his money to the bank but the bank was closed.
Them Devils fans were feeling very hosed.
Singin’ this’ll be the day that we die
This’ll be the day that we die

Now, for seven years we’ve been spoiled at home
And yet you never thought once to roam
But, that’s not how it was meant to be
When Langenbrunner sang for the Saint Lemaire
In a jersey borrowed from Giguere
And a voice that came from you and me
Oh and while the Brodeur was looking down
The Parise stole his thorny crown
The ice rink was just plain done.
No hope for us all bummed
And while Kovalchuk practiced defense
Parise and Suter laughed behind the fence
And we sang this damn song hence….
The day the Parise fan died
We were singin’

[Chorus]

Bye, bye this Parise guy.
Drove his money to the bank but the bank was closed.
Them Devils fans were feeling very hosed.
Singin’ this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

Helter skelter in a Parise swelter
The father flew off into the fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed offsides on the ice.
The players tried for it but no dice.
With the Gaborik on the sidelines in a cast
Now the intermission air was sweet perfume
While Arlette played the Anthem tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
Cause the players tried to take the ice
The color guard refused to play nice
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the Parise fanbase died?
We started singin’

[Chorus]

Bye, bye this Parise guy.
Drove his money to the bank but the bank was closed.
Them Devils fans were feeling very hosed.
Singin’ this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

Oh, and there we were all in one place
A fanbase lost in space
With no time left to start again
So come on Ray be nimble, Ray be quick
Ray could not save the Parise stick.
Cause Quick is not the NHL’s only friend
And as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No Lou Lams born in Hell
Could break that Parise’s spell
And as his fiancee climbed into the St. Paul night.
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Dan Offerdahl laughing with delight
The day the Parise signed….
He was singin’

[Chorus]

Bye, bye this Parise guy.
Drove his money to the bank but the bank was closed.
Them Devils fans were feeling very hosed.
Singin’ this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die

I met a #9 fan who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the video store
Where I’d heard the Henrique OT goal
But the man there said the hockey wouldn’t play
And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The Ranger fans still were broken
And the three men I admire most-
the Parise, Niedermayer, and MacLean
They caught the last train for all the pain.
The day the Parise lied.
And they were singing

[Chorus:Repeat x2

Just screw this Parise guy.
Shot the puck to the net but the light stayed off.
When even Minnesota fans could be heard to scoff..
Singin’ this’ll be the day that I die
This’ll be the day that I die
