Fantasy POTN (5/24) — Stephen Gionta

It was one of those weird sort of nights in the NHL Playoffs, here is our quick hitter, our Fantasy POTN for today, May 24th. The unexpected tends to happen more this time of year than even in the beginning of the regular season. There were a few candidates but no one that really stood out on the surface. When you take a deeper look however, there was one player that has been quite the surprise all playoffs long.

Here is our Fantasy POTN from last night in the NHL Playoffs…….

FANTASY POTN:

Stephen Gionta, F, New Jersey Devils

The fourth line is one big reason why the Devils have climbed ahead of the Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Now the reality is Stephen Gionta has been doing this all postseason. Here is a player who was dismissed to Albany at the end of the preseason like it was no thought at all and now here he is playing this big of a role. Gionta hits when he has to, scores when he has to, and most importantly displays a two way game that makes Peter DeBoer feel very comfortable when sending out his fourth line. Gionta’s goal got the Devils going early last night but his pass to Ryan Carter is what sealed the game after the Rangers made their comeback. That fourth line is the engine that makes the Devils’ forecheck what it is.

Today is a bit of a rest day so take a breather, enjoy the outdoors, or watch some sports. Tomorrow night shapes up to be one hell of a night. Thanks again for reading.
