It really is the most wonderful time of the year for hockey fans. Some will disagree but the reality is that the 2014 Winter Olympics gets going with Team USA going up against Finland at 3 am ET. Yes this is women's hockey but believe me, there are tons of compelling storylines. People forget that the men do not start until next Wednesday.
The fun part is that we will sit back on Twitter tonight and try to live tweet this starting at 3 am ET. I know there are a few fantasy hockey pools for women's hockey which is something you would never ever have thought possible four years ago. By the way, for the men we have something from the Dynasty Sports Empire.
Saturday will be the last day for fantasy hockey via the NHL umbrella for two and a half weeks. Olympic box pools will take over and of course the women take to the ice first in what should set up to be a pre-destined clash between the US and Canada for the gold medal once again. It does not seem very likely at all that there will be an upset but quietly the level of women's hockey has risen from four years ago.
