Pick The Winner: Golden Times!

We have reached the end of the Olympic hockey road. Canada will face Sweden in the morning. When I looked at odds and such, I was amazed at how much they changed from earlier in the day. Canada has jumped from a -170 to -200 in most circles. The over/under is still holding at 4 1/2. No one really expects a high scoring game at all. I mean no one!

Some Bets and Prop Bets

Let's dig a little deeper. After all, if you want to learn more about betting on hockey then check out this page BetOnIt.org. The gold medal game is a bastion of betting. Remember there is the moneyline, puckline, and of course the over/under. Then add in the prop bets and you have the recipe for choice overload. However, the good thing is there is something to bet on for everyone. The puck line is actually called the "Canadian Line"

This is how it goes. Canada is the favorite at -200 which is a solid favorite. Even the over/under is at 4 1/2 with the under going off at a decent -145. The over by the way is only a +120 which is so-so value. The reason is the combined amount of goals from the four semifinal teams on Friday was three. That is right. Three!  Those are just the tip of the iceberg.

Then we hit some of the prop bets out there. There are always a few that will make your head go crazy. Here are a few of the fun ones.

  • Sweden by 5 or more goals  85/1
  • Will the game end in a regulation tie? Yes (+320) No (-450)
  • Total Goals Canada Over/Under at 2 1/2. Line at -115.
  • Goal in first half of period (+125). Goal after (-155).

There you go. Now the thing is there are so many numbers and so little time. Remember the game starts at 7am ET so you want to get that bet in now. The line may just get worse as gametime approaches. The final question has to be asked. Okay Chris, who are you picking?

Pick The Winner

Again, it is time. This is the final prediction of the Olympics. Both teams have dynamic offense but they also can bottle up the ice. With that said, here is our pick.

Canada 2 Sweden 1 (OT)

Thanks again for a great Olympics and this week we get back to the NHL. Good luck!
